Professional Development for Research Methodologists

We invite expressions of interest to attend an in-person event in York on Tuesday 1 July (10:00-15:00), which will focus on providing networking opportunities for research methodologists and an opportunity to discuss career development.

The event has been organised by the NIHR Methodology Incubator Careers workstream, led by Professor Catey Bunce, Honorary Professor of Medical Statistics at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and Dr Eleanor Mitchell, Associate Professor of Clinical Trials at the University of Nottingham.

The event programme will include:

  1. Findings from the PROSPER study, which focussed on prioritising professional development aspects for research methodologists
  2. Discussion groups, examining key aspects of PROSPER to enable research methodologists to lead the agenda and propose solutions to identified issues
  3. Networking opportunities
  4. Case studies of career development stories from a range of research methodologists

Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Travel will be covered by the individual however, we understand the financial difficulties facing Institutions at this time and are able to offer up to £50 towards travel costs if required.

We are keen to offer places to research methodologists from a range of disciplines, though in order for the event to be effective for individuals, we will need a critical mass of people from specific disciplines.

To help with this, we ask you to make an initial expression of interest to enable the event organisers to plan stating which area of methodology you feel most aligned with by emailing teresa.lisle@newcastle.ac.uk by 30th April.
