Pragmatic use of AI in Healthcare

Event date: 09/02/2022
Event time: 1pm-2:30pm

This session aims to provide a balanced perspective on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods in healthcare, balancing their huge potential with the very real challenges that are associated with such models. The use of such models is becoming increasingly popular across the spectrum of healthcare research, but the limitations are rarely discussed. We will touch upon issues including data access, model generalisability, and the interpretability of predictions.

The session consists of invited talks from three experienced researchers, each with a different perspective on the topic, followed by a panel discussion focusing on improving the utility and teaching of artificial intelligence amongst the health community.
